Retrieval Tuesday

Aaaahhhh, it's here the big retrieval! My u/s yesterday showed just as many huge follicles. My RE can't believe that even on a lower dose protocol I responded with even more follicles than last time. Unfortunately, I'm hyperstimming, of course, so he put me on meds for that like he did last time. He says he can't take the chance of something dangerous happening to me if I don't go on the meds, so I completely agreed with him. We don't know about the transfer yet, we are just going to have to wait until we get the Fert Report on Thursday morning. I'm pushing for a 5dt just b/c I would rather the embies grow now (fresh) and the not-so-good one's be weeded out before freezing. However, our RE told us that based on their stats, if they freeze the rest on Day 5, they have less success rates than if they freeze on Day 3 and then allow them to grow after the thaw. I just don't know, I trust my RE and the Embryologist, but I just have a feeling that watching the embies grow now and transferring the absolute best fresh, might give us a better shot. I'm also pushing for 3 this time, instead of just 2. Well, I've got alot of work to do today, but I'll try and post after my retrieval. Love to you all!

  7. First time visitor from ICLW. I feel like I am reading my story! I am also an over responder and I can totally relate to how you are feeling. My first IVF cycle I got cancelled for sky high E2 levels. Second cycle I over responded again and was coasted to lower my levels before retrieving 18 eggs and suffering mild OHSS between collection and transfer. Of the 18 we got 15 fertilised but only one made it to a grade A blast and was transferred with a BFN result. The rest were too fragmented and the quality wasn't good enough to freeze (although most made it to blast) We were also told our poor results were due to drug protocol with my body being sensitive to the drugs. And this was on 100iu of puregon! This time I am on 75iu and hoping for quality over quantity. Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share with you that you are not alone!

I really hope the retrieval went well for you and didn't leave you in too much pain. Here's hoping for some great quality embryos and a BFP!! GOOD LUCK!!

  9. Really hoping your ER went well yesterday and your eggs are already fertilised and growing. Best of luck for that fert report.

As for a 3d v 5d transfer, I would always recommend going with your specialist if you trust him. Really hoping this cycle brings you a BFP, a beautiful healthy pregnancy and a bundle of joy in your arms in 9 months time.

  15. Hope it all went well for you. I'm the opposit of you, clinics out here (aus) believe freezing on day 5 is the best, but I always wonder whether it would be better to freeze on day 3 and have lots to choose from!
Hope to hear good news soon.
