Still Surreal

I'm still pinching myself every morning and really trying to remind myself that this is actually real. I guess I'm still in such a state of shock that it hasn't really sunk in yet. After my spotting and cramping on Monday, everything has stopped, which I'm greatful for. I got a really bad migraine on Wednesday night and basically just went to bed at like 7pm and didn't wake up until 8am the next day. Other than feeling fatigued, I don't have any other symptoms. It's funny how when an IFer gets to this point you're always second guessing everything. Well maybe its not healthy if I'm not having more symptoms? I find myself doing this constantly. I don't know if maybe m/s will kick in next week or not. Of course it would be nice to skip that part, but in some stupid and torturous way I actually want it, just for reassurance. I don't know if maybe once we get to the ultrasound and finally see the proof and actually hear the proof of a heartbeat it will finally sink in that I'm actually pregnant.

Update: I started spotting brown again. I pray to God this is normal!

  2. I remember wanting morning sickness too at the very beginning so that I "felt" pregnant and knew it was real. I didn't really have any symptoms for a few weeks after my bfp until about 6 weeks when the M/s came on full force and I then had it for the remainder of my pregnancy. It made me really wish I would've just enjoyed the first few weeks when I felt pretty good. But I totally know what you mean, and I am so excited for you! I know how torturous the wait for the u/s is!! Hang in there :)

  3. I'm so happy for you Melissa! I understand completely how you feel. After so long, it should come natural to be elated, rigth? Not so. Don't worry about being worried. I didn't get M/S symptoms untill I was 6 weeks along. And I never actually threw up, but I felt positively awfull untill about the 12 week mark (and I dont' think it's fair that when I would tell people I hadn't thrown up, they would say "oh, you're lucky!") . And untill those symptoms came, I POS every.single.day. Even after my u/s. I just wanted to make sure. Gobs of water might help alleviate those migraines (ie: drink untill you feel like you're drowning) and get used to that bedtime! I'm only just now able to stay up untill 10:oopm again, and Kennedy is almost 9 months old! OMG, I'm so excited for you. I'm actually teary eyed. I got teary eyed when I read your Beta post too. Hang in there, and POS whenever you need a smile and a lift.

  4. I was always told that the rule of thumb is that spotting is okay, as long as it's not bright red with cramping. Brown means old blood. I'm sure it's fine.

As far as symptoms go, I didn't start getting any until I was a few weeks further along than you are. Then the morning sickness kicked in full force and didn't leave until 2nd trimester! But I know what you mean-- I worried initially (how could you NOT worry after working so hard and waiting so long for something?!) when I didn't have any real symptoms. I'm sure you'll develop plenty over the next couple of weeks.

I am so excited for your ultrasound. I second Alie's suggestion-- POAS for reassurance as needed. I did that often before my first u/s!

  5. Hi Melissa, I am a new follower from Lost & Found. I am not having many symptoms either so I wouldn't worry. I hope and pray everything goes well at your ultrasound

  6. I just stumbled upon your blog through another blog I follow. I spotted quite frequently early in my pregnancy (and called my doctor a few times), and just like everyone else is saying, it's fine as long as it stays brown. I also had a cervical polyp that had to be removed during my second trimester that caused me to spot a little after examinations. And my morning sickness didn't really kick in until I was 7 or 8 weeks along.
