A New Year

It's the first day of a new year, hopefully a new start. I just really want to know if this IUI worked or not. It will change everything, whatever happens. If it's positive it will be the best day and start of the year for us. We can get our new car and plan for a September baby. If it's negative, then we'll have to look into getting a loan for IVF, we won't get a new car, and the anxiety that comes with starting another treatment will begin again. It's driving me nuts just thinking about it. On Jan. 8, I take my oral exams for my PhD. It's a huge step towards finishing my degree. It would be amazing, if after I finish and pass them, I get my BFP a few days later. Arrgghh, this stinks.

  1. Hi Melissa - Happy New Year! I really hope you get the best news at the beginning of this new year, you deserve it. Try not to let thinking about the car, IVF and everything else get on top of you. I know it's hard but I find taking each day as it comes, has really helped me through this all. Has your hubby done any investigations into why he has MFI? Has he seen a urologist? Maybe worth looking into before you go the IVF route..?

  2. Happy New year! I hope your orals go well. I know how nerve wracking doing a defense can be. Good luck with your test results as well.

  4. Hey girl. Been thinking about your 2ww. I didn't blog about it this time, but I had my 2nd IUI on Wednesday. So I'm still in the wait with you! Hang in there.

  5. Hello!

Hello from one soon-to-be PhD to another! My name is Elisabeth, and I am an infertility / repeated pregnancy loss "veteran". You can read a little bit about me and my experiences in my (not very updated) blog: drhousewife.blogspot.com . I am completing a PhD in Counseling Psychology, and my dissertation is focused upon the impact of infertility on marriage. I believe strongly that there is a need for better support services for men and women who are undergoing IF diagnosis and treatment, and my hope is that this study will aid in the development of such services.

I am contacting you after stumbling across your blog. I am recruiting participants for my study, and wanted to invite you and your husband to take part. All that would be involved would be the completion of an online survey, that would take approximately 20 minutes. All couples who complete the surveys will receive a voucher good for a pair of free movie tickets at a Regal Cinemas.

Please let me know if you are interested by emailing me at UTInfertilityResearch@gmail.com . I have included the criteria for participation below.

Feel free to pass information along to anyone you know who might be interested in contributing to this study.

    Best of luck to you!
    Elisabeth
